RegCEP (Regional Clusters for Energy Planning) is supported by the European Intelligent Energy programme.

RegCEP will help to overcome barriers to the poor use of intelligent energy by SMEs, by exploiting regional clusters as a tool for energy planning and management by SMEs. RegCEP will thus develop regional clusters as an instrument of integrating energy policy and regional policy.

Key work packages include renewable energy, energy efficiency, cluster energy plans (audit, analysis and strategy), c luster pilot projects (specifications of pilot projects to implement key concerns of the strategy), development of trans-national tool-kit arising from the partners’ collective experience, dissemination to the target groups and international dissemination.

This process of energy planning will be promoted in eight regional clusters: Shannon Industrial Zone (Ireland), South Karelia metals industry (Finland), Bayton Road Industrial Estate, Coventry (UK), Tartu timber industry (Estonia), Kabai industrial complex (Hungary), mixed sectors in Ruse (Bulgaria), Marche mechanical engineering cluster (Italy) and Celje tool-making cluster (Slovenia).
